Sketches
I have heard it said that "Drawing is the cornerstone of art" and that "Sketches show the soul of the artist". Even though statements such as this will always be subjective, I personally have always enjoyed looking at other artists sketches. While most people like seeing a finished work of art, often sketches were there first, to create an idea, and develop different elements. Many artist take their sketching material with them most everywhere they go. In idle moments they may break out the paper and pencil and just draw whatever comes to mind. They may draw ideas that they may never paint, or may draw something that will lead them to a whole new concept in their art.
